My son, Kaleb, will be new to your classroom beginning the week of December 5, 2011. We are making a huge move from across the country (Virginia) and he is feeling very nervous about it all. Is it possible to get an email address for Mrs. Heimburger so that I may communicate with her before Kaleb begins school? I believe it would really help the transition for him. Thanks!

Megan,
As for outdoor kids programs, SHCS has outdoor programs during the school year for K-8th graders. They ranges from environmental programs to cross country ski program. During the Summer, some of our students are part of a cross country ski team that has weekly strength training sessions. Other outdoor programs (not sure on ages) would be: our Summer Camps, Parks and Rec programs, and, of course, there are plenty of hiking and biking trails (Soldier Hollow, Dutch Hollow, Snake Creek area, Deer Creek Trail) throughout the valley. Would recommend stopping at the Chamber of Commerce for more information.
Enjoy the Summer,
Karla

Is it possible to get a monthly agenda of the outdoor activities the kids are involved in, with specific days/times/locations? I have a preschooler that I would like to expose to similar activities to see if he would adapt well to your program, but I have no idea where to take him-I’m new to the area. In addition I’m not sure how far to push a 4 year old boy when it comes to hiking, x-country, etc. Though I would really like him to gain an appreciation for them, as opposed to the video games, to which he’s already addicted unfortunately.
