This workshop is open to the beginner as well as more experienced artists with a focus on drypoint and monotype printmaking using a pin press and water-based etching ink. We will explore the many ways in which we can create a one-of-a-kind painterly print, additive and subtractive methods of applying ink to the plate surface, the use of brayers, drypoint scribes, textures, multiple plate printing and registration. Drypoint and Monotype can be a very spontaneous way of working and often inspires work in other mediums because of quick results and the variety of techniques each artist creatively tries and explores.
Chess Club: Coordinators: Karla Willis & Carina Knecht
Invites all students in 2nd – 8th grades to join us for 1 hr of Chess every week. We have many levels of chess players, from beginners to advanced. We usually begin each class with a quick lesson followed by silent chess games. Periodically, we will have guest chess players. Currently we have 12-14 boards and could always use more. So, please bring yours, if you are able. Also, please send your student with water. A light snack is provided.
Running Club: Coach Nathan Kinder, who has been a runner for 19 years. He ran competitively for years in distances ranging from 5k’s to Ironman’s. Nathan was also a high school running coach for several years. Running is a very important part of his life and he would like to share his passion with others.
- Meets every Thursday from 3-4 pm for ten weeks at the Snowflake.
- Available to students of all ages.
- Registration fee: $10 per runner
We will meet at the snowflake and stretch, play running related games, and learn how running can be fun and enjoyable. We will talk about proper running form, nutrition, and the importance of fitness. Running is a great lifetime activity and can also be used as conditioning for other sports, such as soccer and skiing. Any parent who wants to come and help out is welcome. If you have any questions, please contact Nathan or the school office.
Printmaking classes for next week may switch to Wed (so either Wed’s or Thurs’s next week for 5-8 grades). I will let parents know ASAP.
Also, the 2-4 is WED, not Thurs’s. Sorry for the mistake. Hope to see many of you in class, Thanks!
Printmaking is now on WED’s, Oct. 5-12 (5-8 grades) & 19-26(2-4 grades).
