This year’s Green Council are environmental ambassadors and our student council. Representatives from each grade have been chosen (via job applications) to represent their class on the Green Council. This dedicated group of students work each day recycling, cleaning up litter, composting, and just generally keeping the school environment happy and healthy! They also lead us each morning with a pledge to our flag and an inspirational morning message that educates the students about our monthly theme.

Utah Envirothon-
A small team of 7th and 8th grade students are training to compete in this year’s state high school Envirothon to be held in Zion National Park on April 20-21, 2012. These students have been sponsored by the Wasatch County Conservation District for the past few years. During competition students will travel between testing stations on aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, and wildlife administered by professionals in each field. They will also prepare an oral presentation on a management plan that they devised given a scenario on estuaries. The team placed 6th (of 28 teams) in the Oral Presentation and 14th overall two years ago. Last year they placed 1st in the state in the Oral Presentation category and 2nd in the state overall!! This was quite a remarkable accomplishment for this young team and at a high school level!
